The Company is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to take on a pivotal role as the primary legal adviser to the Australian business. This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape the local legal function, with a focus on building trusted relationships, strengthening legal and compliance frameworks, and influencing the role of legal in the business. The successful candidate will have significant local autonomy while benefiting from the resources and support of established regional and group legal and compliance functions. Key responsibilities include acting as the central legal contact for the business, managing a diverse legal portfolio, and proactively identifying and addressing legal and compliance risks. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished commercial lawyer with at least 8 years' post-qualification experience, including a strong background in commercial contracting. The role is exceptionally broad, covering commercial, corporate, employment, competition, regulatory, and environmental matters, as well as managing litigation and disputes. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or other operationally complex environments is highly valued. The role requires a candidate who is adept at working autonomously, has the commercial judgment to advise senior stakeholders, and is ready to take on the challenge of a Greenfield legal environment.
